Theme Tour > China Hiking Tour > 4 Days Yubeng Hiking Tour

Everything was preordained by God.
13 peaks of the Meili Snow Mountain, all above 6000 meters, gather together, while the Lancang River rushes through the Hengduan Mountains.
Mountains and rivers with solemnity isolate the mortal world, echoing with the gentle flow of hundreds of years of human history.
41 households, more than a hundred indigenous people, live in seclusion, backed by the snow-capped mountain god, Kawagebo.
Because of their beliefs and way of life, they are never afraid of being forgotten by the world.
Once, to enter this sparsely populated village, a rare horse trail was the only passage leading to the outside world, with those praying and offering incense coming and going.
In their hearts, Yubeng is the true epitome of ShangriLa, enclosing a divine hiding village—Yubeng.
Countless people come to ShangriLa, hoping to catch a glimpse of the true appearance of Kawa Ge Bo, the main peak of Meili. Highlights of the itinerary:
Let us fulfill this wish in four days!

Important Notes

Q: Will I experience altitude sickness during the hike in Yubeng? Do I need to bring an oxygen tank?
A: Altitude sickness varies from person to person; it greatly depends on your body condition, attitude also plays an important role. Maintain a calm mind, avoid strenuous exercise, adjust your breathing, and rest more; generally, you won't face major issues. If you are worried, you may take Rhodiola capsules 7 days prior to entering Yubeng or use local products like blue nourishing tablets or butter tea to help alleviate symptoms. I personally feel it's unnecessary to bring an oxygen tank, but those with relatively poor health may choose to bring one.
Q: What essential gear should I bring for hiking in Yubeng?
A:
1.Clothing: Out door jacket, fleece, quick dry clothing, disposable underwear, high quality nonslip hiking shoes, and rain gear. Since most paths are uphill or downhill, knee pads are recommended.
2.Supplementary Items: Small flashlight, common medications, sunscreen or sun protective headscarves, trekking poles, and a fully charged power bank.
3.Food: Hiking consumes a lot of energy, so it's advisable to bring some snacks like chocolate or beef jerky for energy and convenience. However, there are also small shops selling instant noodles, Red Bull, etc., along the way. Prices will generally be higher due to the difficulty of transporting goods up the mountain.
4.Mindset: Be sure to bring a relaxed and cheerful attitude along with a safety mindset for the journey.
Q: How to handle bathroom needs along the way?
A: There are usually toilets at rest stops, but you need to bring your own tissue. On the trail, since we are walking on mountain paths, find a discreet corner for personal needs.
Q: Are the local Tibetans friendly, and what should I pay attention to?
A: The local Tibetans are friendly, their food is delicious and generously portioned, and they are generally hospitable; as long as you greet them with a smile, they will respond positively.
1. Show respect to guests, using titles instead of names, like adding "La" after their names. When welcoming or seeing off guests, bow slightly and maintain a smiling demeanor. When sitting indoors, sit crosslegged; do not stretch legs or point feet towards others.
2. Killing is a cultural taboo for Tibetans, especially for those who are Buddhist practitioners. They eat beef and lamb but do not slaughter them themselves. Eating donkey, horse, or dog meat is absolutely forbidden, and some areas may also avoid eating fish.
3. When eating, avoid stuffing your mouth full, or chewing loudly, or making sounds while drinking.
4. When drinking butter tea served by the host, take it only when it is respectfully offered with both hands.
5. Avoid spitting or clapping behind someone’s back.
6. When walking past religious sites like temples or mani piles, always go from left to right, whereas those practicing Bon religion should do the opposite.
7. Do not reverse the prayer wheels.
8. Avoid letting others touch your head.
9. When entering a temple, do not smoke, touch statues, flip through religious books, or bang bells and drums. Not to mention the religious artifacts like charms or prayer beads carried by lamas; don’t touch those either. Remain quiet inside the temple, sit properly, and never sit in the place of a living Buddha; refrain from making loud noises, hunting, or random killing near temples.
